I'm not convinced it's religious guilt at all. It's become snobbery directed toward shoddy and tainted product. Porn carries the stigma now that a "Made in Taiwan" label used to impart to a tool, or the self rightousness of certain groups who refuse to wear clothes bought from Kmart because they're produced by child-labor in a foreign sweatshop.
