I've tactfully excused myself. Add anyone else you think,

I think james is the natural favorite, but bornyo is a close second. Da burglar would be great but he hasn't really been around that much.

I'm not on the list. I should be given the opportunity, God effing dammit. I have no ties to anyone here or at any of the other porn boards out there. I guess I really will have to jam a screwdriver into Smartt's neck afterall.

none of them really have been around, so forget them.
monkey should stay the eternal cage moderator even if monkey never returns.

Re: I just realized the Cage needs a moderator. - 03/09/05 01:44 AM

that's a bogus charge, i've posted around 50 times since the great one moved on. i'd almost be in favor of rolling the shitlist into the cage since smut's doing his best work outside of where he's a mod and the cage ended up being a shitlist with photos and ridicule rather than complaints.

don't replace monkey on the letterhead, but there should be at least two people if the spirit is to survive. monkey posted several new threads most days and most were funny. i'm flattered to be mentioned, but there's no way one person is going to come close to the greatness monkey achieved. if he wants to merge the shitlist smut's a no-brainer. ivor's as funny as anyone but generally stays subtle. throw a combination of those guys, bornyo, others listed including myself together and you'd have some consistency of posting and some variety. the monkey basically cranked out a weekly humor column every morning which is a little daunting for one person when the nature of the cage demands creativity from the moderators not the ability to answer who worked with who in a movie.

I certainly have neither the time, nor the cleverness.

But, I would vote for jamesn if Monkey doesn't return.

Glad to see james is fired up... so he's a good candidate if we must. I've been doing my best to keep things alive to no avail. it's tough. it takes dedication. it's been fun. I prolly posted more in the Cage in the past 2 weeks than in the whole time it's existed in my noble effort to save it from the monkey's gone why bother apathy. anybody that stopped posting b/c monkey left ISN'T qualified to take over. even monkey showed his disgust w/ the lack of posts when he was here and monkey probably is disgusted w/ what he sees while lurking like big brother. everybody needs to pick up the slack, but keep monkey the figurehead. nobody can be monkey, nobody needs to be, just do something. the new mod should be somebody monkey would approve of so that rules me out, but we can't think for the monkey. btw, who the fuck voted for smartt besides smartt who has been pretty much a non-entity on the board in general thankfully b/c monkey was like sunlight against smartt keeping him remote like a vampire.

I agree with Smut- Monkey is and always shall be the mod of the cage- no one else Unless someone wants the gig just as a place holder until he arrives.

Monstar- you are no good for the job, like I wasn't, The cage needs a real bastard for a mod ( and I mean that in a good way)

So long as the other mods keep their eyes open for penius pumpers I think the Cage is doing fine as far as needing a moderator goes. I can wait three more weeks for Monkey's return. What the Cage needs is an instigator, not a moderator, and Smelly was an instigator extraordinaire

Re: I just realized the Cage needs a moderator. - 03/09/05 06:57 PM

i'm still pushing the shitlist-merger and carrying smut's status over to have someone other than jeff and tony to delete the pumping-content when it appears. monkey's currently at peace with his estrangement and i don't doubt his sincerity but i hope he gets bored of whatever he's doing and shows up to mess with the affairs of mortals.

i thought his best work was the weekend-update/daily-show treatments of lukeisback/adultfyi/hcg updates. they were actually funnier than the stuff comedians and snl writers come up with. there's no way one person can be expected to do come up with the ridicule thread for stuff a few hours after it was up like him. i don't say something that's genuinely funny every day, here or not. most people don't. he was like beavis constantly commenting while the videos were running-not everything he said was funny, but it often was and there was always the potential for something hilarious to come out.

that's kinda the case for having a couple of people run it so there's no pressure to say something for the sake of saying something while keeping them bound to a sense of obligation to stay active and post when they had something funny to say. mod-by-committee keeps the potential for someone hitting a homerun on any given day around here. i'm seriously flattered people have mentioned me but i think a single moderator is going to be dissapointing and force them to post for the sake of posting. split it up and the burden goes away and people can take a day or two off when life demands it without feeling guilty they're not keeping the flame burning and wankus irritated. anyone who accepts is going to have a commitment to the cage, but it's less-oppressive filling monkey's shoes when there are a few others to pick up some slack when needed.

Fayner is prolly breathing a sigh of relief that a sworn enemy like monkey has disappeared, so now he can be as stupid as ever and not fear monkey putting a spotlight on his parasitic presence in porn. How does a guy like that get laid and let into the party? It just don't seem right... I mean Luke has a purpose that seems somewhat just. monkey saw that... monkey see, now monkey don't.

If that stuff reappears I'll delete it where I can. I normally shy away from that sort of thing since minimalist mods are best, but nobody will complain in this case.

thanks for the support, keep in mind that while i'll work for crack, you'll have to pay me in trashbarrels of it to elicit long posts.

seriously, the cage requires a whipping a bunch of people into posting more and coming up with funny shit morethan traditional moderation. i'm a shitty cheerleader and i'm not going to beg people to post and i can come up with something funny every now and then but i'd need a lot of help. the last thing i want to do is ruin the cage on my watch given how much i love the place. i've been online less-reguarly but that ends tommorow as the greaseballs refinishing my floors finished up today and i can finally not have fat guys taking shits in my bathrooms whenever i need to use them. just thought i'd vent.

I deleted a bunch of stuff just to shorten the post but having your floors sanded and refinished is the most disruptive renovation you can have done. You should have called ahead. You could have flown to Charleston, I'd drive down to meet you and you could have mapped out your plans for the Cage. My sister flew south from Chicago this weekend - I'm not so sure she isn't Smiling Arab. We talk around the subject at these awkward family reunions. I know for a fact that she is a librarian, so playing an attorney on a porn message board would not be a stretch for her.

I really want to try that crack stuff but I can't seem to find it around here. At this point I'd be happy to see the boys from Athens, GA show up with their supply of magic mushrooms.
