XXXdomain names- keep or sell? HELP - 01/15/06 04:59 PM

Could you guys help me out. I bought a bunch of domain names and they are coming up for renewal. Should I keep them? or sell them? I've heard that if you have any decent dot coms you should hold on to them because, like ocean front property there are only so many. Please tell me what you think. Here are some of them IAMBOOBLOVER.COM IMACHUBBYCHASER.COM IMACOLLEGEGIRL.COM IMACRAZYPERSON.COM IMAFATTY.COM IMAFOOTLOVER.COM IMAGAYMAN.COM IMALUNATIC.COM IMAMENTALCASE.COM IMAMUSICLOVER.COM IMAPUSSYLOVER.COM IMASUBMISSIVE.COM IMATEENAGER.COM All of them start with IMA as in "I am a"

Some of them are good site names but if you are just sitting on them they are loosing you money. I would suggest try and get something going on them even if they are just a click thru.

Thanks Pariah. Wish I had a clue how to do that. Actually going through the same thing with Xcitement.com ( it's down for maintenance right now) I don't know anything about click throughs or banner ad s or links etc.. I am a writer, not a webmaster. It there a company that can handle all that for a percentage and not rip you off? Thanks for your advice Pariah.

I believe they're planning on moving all xxx content to .xxx domains so those dot coms might be useless.

Frankly I think it's a great idea that needs to be implemented. It's good for the industry and makes it easy for parents and libraries to filter out porn sites.

Fuck that shite. I won't be able to access anything over here if that happens. That just makes it easier for the Government here to block everything. (I'm in China)

Actually it's still up in the Air.

It should move forward but obstacles have been encountered (politics).

Only time will tell.

If you are not an entrepeneur or do not know how to gain capital from the holding of such domains then you should just sell them. However, it could very well be worth your while to hold on to a domain. It's a gamble... as is real estate or the market. If you don't exactly know what you're doing though... you could be fucked. I'm not saying that this is the case (that you don't know what you're doing), I'm just saying to be sure that you do.

Great point. I was viewing the matter as it would apply in the USA, not in repressive regimes.

even so, with the .XXX, in theory would it not be easy for AOL to charge extra for access to sites with that suffix and call it a premium pass or some other nonsense?

now that could be fucked up...or hell, they could choose NOT to carry any availability to those sites. leaving you to have to choose a provider that does. then you are at the mercy of what ever the feel comfortable gouging you for....

Point is well taken...except porn sites are, far and away, the most popular sites on the web so ISP's would be losing a ton of subscriber base if they decided not to offer .XXX site access.

Don't think any, including AOL, wants to be first to restricet access.

However, a related matter is the GUMMINT. Some asshole in the blue nosed Right Wing could easily start legislation requiring that certain content must be on .XXX sites, then later start regulating access (like after 11:00 pm, etc.)
