Okay, I think we've wasted enough time and attention on an Alt. Especially one as poorly done as this.

Alex is right: Luke Gotta Eat. And he can take money from whomever he wants. But at the same time, I can call him a hypocrite for doing so. I can question his integrity and his ethics; I can question his status as a self-styled Moral Leader. I can insinuate he's a crook, since he can't or won't account for the source of that money.

But most importantly, I can choose not to read his blog any more, since it's obviously become part of the Dobson Propaganda Machine. And I can encourage others to do the same. After all, That's what the Jesus Freaks would do, isn't it? And at the end of the day, it's us, the readers, and the hits we bring to his site that determines his income.

Why's everyone getting into a tizzy over this?

For $400 a month what type of response do you think Shelly will get? Do you really think the average porn star looking for salvation will see that banner on Luke's site and all of a sudden have a change of heart and find Jesus's love after reading it on Luke's site?

Does XXXChurch have more than three "success" stories from over the past year? I can point to many more fuck ups ("Project Trinity James" being my personal favorite given my personal involvement) than victories.

If anything I see this as an unnecessary expense and give it six months before she stops advertising realizing that the costs to benefits just don't justify themselves (instead of hawking for Jesus she should be getting ex-stars to go college). Exposure is the best step to defeating them. They will *all* pull a Ted Faggard at one point or another and alienate their own followers.

This is not an alliance. I have ads to all sorts of pornographers on my site and I am not allied with them, even though I am closer to many of them than I am to Shelley.

This is not new. I grew up among the Religious Right. Many of my friends are on the Religious Right. I am on the Religious Right.

Being friends with Jesus freaks is not new for me. I grew up among Jesus freaks. Many of my friends from childhood are Jesus freaks.

I try to be friendly with everybody who can stomach me, be they law enforcement, anti-porn crusaders, pornographers, druggies etc... I have been covering those who hate porn, and at times hanging out with them, for as long as I've covered porners.
