I deliberately do not preview but it ain't because I'm not dumb. It is more to do with my faith in the profound meaning of channeling chance, and that I think it adds a desperately needed extra layer to the goings on. I also likes to keep it real.

A decent vodka should only be diluted by other liquor or tonic. Although you can buy shit vodka and use a spent water filter to improve it if you're a student of limited means.

I will indulge copious amounts of Jim Beam. It's white trashy and hickish, but I have relatives who work at the distillery, it's my way of being a good family guy. I took some friends from Montgomery Bell Academy there once, good times.

I can vouch for Bornyo's recommendation of Woodford Reserve, smooth as honey. Their potstills were made in Speyside. I've worked my way up to Laphroaig, for those of you into scotch. It is extremely funky, layered with the finest Scotland has to offer: Smoke, peat, and seaweed. I don't let anything get between me and my scotch, except an ice cube or two.

I was in TN for that Superbowl as well. Missed the whole thing! I slept after a 15-hour drive thru the snow/ice. Got knock off the road in Chilhowie, VA. Driving down I40 was an obstacle course with all the abandoned vehicles left in the highway. No one knew how to drive in the stuff.

The schools were closed for days.

Can someone give me a review on Bulleit? I was given a bottle at Christmas but I don't know whether it's actually a threat rather than a gift. Never tried it, don't know whether to use it on the woodwork or drink it.

Cragganmore for sweetness, Lagavulin for peaty flavor. I used to collect malts from the year of my birth, but then I switched to armagnac. Gets a bad press over cognac, but find the right year and it beats the shit out of cognac.

I'm not much picky with the alcohol. I find a little bit of beauty in the taste of most. If I had to pick an addiction it'd be alcohol but I'm not ready to lose myself... maybe in another 20years when I hate the world completely without a doubt LOL

Cognac has always been a love of mine. Remy is God. My father used to put that stuff on my gums when I was teething as a baby. And we'd eat our vanilla ice cream with cherry liqeur and marichino cherries.

Mixed alcohol, fruit drinks are yucky. I rather drink juice. That cheap ole peach chardonnay is an exception. It has a nice taste for a friggin lame bottle of not even $5.

Beer is great. I can only tolerate the taste of Guinness when had with Whiskey.

Wine is pure bliss. All wine of all colors. Good times chompin on home-marinated olives all green, black and purples and a glass of wine with grandpa making caponata. I miss him.

Try it. Genuinely weird, smoky taste. You can't knock it back too hard, though, because it gets a bit of a medicinal taste to it after a while.

Scotch: Lagavulin and Laphroig 10yr
Bourbons: Makers Mark
Special occasion tipples: Laphroig 15 yr old; Woodford Reserve

Btw Willie, Jim Beam distills and markets a line of small batch bourbons, which you might try (Knob Creek is pretty good) all of which are higher quality than "white label" - you gain taste but lose ironic detachment.

While the Lagavulin and Laphroaig distilleries are only about a 5-irons distance from each other, the Laga costs about twice as much, where I live anyway. As any proper Scotsman would, I refuse to pay a penny more than is necessary for the good shite.

I won't geek out on this any further, but only refer those interested to the best book that I have found for the up and coming Scotch lover, "The Complete Guide to Single Malt Scotch", by Michael Jackson

Get thee to Bevmo and pick up a bottle of the 12 year, or for an etra $10 grab the Cask Strength.
I allways keep the 18y around but at $140 it may be a bit pricey.

You wont regret it, it the kind that makes your mouth water while you grab the bottle to pour.
