A reason to buy HD-DVD - 11/11/06 09:30 AM

Vivid have announced they're going to use Blu-ray, according to Honest Gene Ross.

Just imagine how clear and sharp all those condoms will look! Cool!

Blu-Ray is the HD-DVD competitor. But with playstation3 using it, I think it'll win out.

dunno about that... blue ray might become another failure like betamax...umd...minidisc...and some other fuckups sony pulled out and i dont even remember.

HD is bad for porn, it's easier to see whores cr-ackne and flaws, dvd resolution is just fine for gonzo.

With you on both counts, Pornodux. First off, Sony have admitted that PS3 success is crucial to them, they've spunked so much money on it. Also, the development delays and issues with Blu-ray give me no confidence in it. Plus, the HD-DVD add on for the Xbox 360 is dirt cheap by comparison. Thirdly, just how much space do I need on a DVD? How many 'making of' documentaries do we want after Spider-man 43?

And who wants to see all those cunt zits in close-up?

Don't need, don't want HD for porn. My point was, if Vivid are embracing it, that's all I need to know!

HD porn is a shitty idea, mark my words, you will be fixated on the clarity of the speed bumps rather than jerking off.

Blu-ray, has 1080p vice 1080I or 720P. For those who don't know that means higher resolution. Plus many large studios are going bluray "and" HD DVD; or Blu Ray exclusive. That means HD DVD is not gonna be more disributed. Add PS3 to that and HD DVD hasn't a prayer. Im not the biggest sony fan but I do know when they are gonna kick some ass. This is one of those times.

And cheaper. That could be the death of Blu-ray.

What it comes down to is cost.

You can play your HD-DVD right now on any computer running Windows Medial Player 9 or newer and stream it to your HDTV once MCE is available in the next generation of Windows.

You'll have to spend about $600 or more just to get a player for your Blu-Ray stuff.

Also, HD resolution of 1080 (regardless of render format) for a single frame is equivalent to a 1 megapixel photograph.
All you assholes jacking off to Suze Randell pictures aren't complaining that the 10 megapixel photos are too clear, so try not to be afraid of any new technology coming your way.

As far as better looking whores, that's a personal opinion

Blu-Ray has 5 times more publishers behind it than HD-DVD. Blu-ray has 4 times as many manufacturers.

Winner = Blu-Ray
