That was all a ruse suggested by the Producers and Frank Oz as an ode to the film Belle de Jour. Behind the scenes Kermit boinked Piggy so hard a 7 nation army couldn't hold him back.
Today Kermit and Piggy are swingers. Kermit dated Beverly Adams for a short period and I think Piggy was seeing Will Smith for a while.
